VoD2 is a cloud storage security solution that provides effective and comprehensive privacy and information protection. It does not offer cloud storage, but secures your data being stored, from the moment it leaves your device, for as long as it is stored in the cloud.
The VoD2 solution scrambles your data before it leaves your device and splits it into at least three random slices that are totally unreadable. These three slices are sent to different providers, so that no single provider have the entirety of your data, nor can they read the slice they are storing. Vod2 performs the reverse operation, whenever and wherever you want to access your data. Should any problem arise at a storage provider's data center, VoD2 will still be able to recreate your original data with the remaining slices.
Because VoD2 scrambles your data and splits it at the point of origin, it makes it practically impossible for anyone, including any cloud storage provider, to read or access your information once it is stored in the cloud. In addition, the VoD2 solution does not burden your files with overhead due to additional security measures put on by other providers. Finally it protects you from being totally dependent on any single storage provider.
When you use one single storage provider, you entrust the entirety of your information with it. Even if you use more than one storage provider, the information you are entrusting to any one of them is stored in its entirety. The storage provider has access to your information and many of its employees and suppliers have access as well. These suppliers in turn pass on your information to other suppliers. In addition, each storage provider will have a number of "security" copies of your files with other providers and so on. Finally, you have no protection whatsoever should any of these providers be hacked, breached or otherwise compromised.
The VoD2 solution increases significantly your data protection in the cloud and makes it practically impossible for anyone but you to get to your data. Ill intentioned people or anyone else would have to first identify which cloud storage providers you are using, simultaneously breach the security of these various providers, identify your data, unscramble it and reconstruct it without the VoD2 solution - an extremely remote possibility. In fact, it would probably be much easier for anyone to try to get to your computing device directly.
All data transfers performed by VoD2 use standard encryption and communication protocols. Internet service providers may also use further security measures on their network. In addition, with VoD2, because your information is scrambled and split before it leaves your device, you have an extra level of protection.
No one can read your VoD2 secured information once it is stored in the cloud because it has been scrambled and split in at least three slices before leaving your device. Each slice is physically in a different location, no storage provider has the entirety of your information and the slice it does have is completely unreadable.
You are only limited by the various storage providers' file size limits.
You can secure practically any type of electronic file normally stored or generated by your device (documents, pictures, music, videos, etc.). Some mobile devices however may limit the type of files that can be processed and stored to specific apps.
Our intention is to make VoD2 available on all major platforms.
It is always good practice to make a backup copy of your data, because you can never be sure of almost anything with 100% certainty. However, because with VoD2 the security of your data is no longer dependant on any single storage provider, backups are not as critical as they would be if you were entrusting all of your data to one single storage provider. Even if you were using more than one storage provider, data would still be stored in its entirety with each one and backing up your data would still be a critical process at all times.
